Aer Lingus could operate U.K. transatlantic Routes. On Monday 31st August, the Irish press had released a story. It was one of Aer Lingus, and their supposed efforts to operate trans Atlantic routes from the U.K. regions. A few people immediately wrote off the notion, however, delve a little deeper, and the idea isn’t as crazy as it sounds. As we all know by now, the world isn’t normal. Aviation is a sector that has been hit hard, and in this covid world, this also means airlines are having to turn its pre-conceived ideas on its head, and in some cases, do things they haven’t done before. (Or in the case of Aer Lingus, do something they haven’t done for a long time, given they have previously given the MAN-JFK route a crack in 1995). So, what’s the plan that Aer Lingus have? Currently, the Irish Airline bases 2 of its new A321N at Shannon. EasyJet adds Isle Of Man Starting Oct 26th, Easyjet will add a 3 weekly,  U2321 MAN 1140 IOM 1235 Mon U2321 MAN 1500 IOM 1555 Thu U2321 MAN 1615 IOM 1710 Fri U2322 IOM 1305 MAN 1400 Mon U2322 IOM 1625 MAN 1720 Thu U2322 IOM 1740 MAN 1835 Fri A319/A320 used. The Easyjet app is showing an intention to operate 5 weekly, with flight days also showing on Wed and Sun, but no flights bookable at this time. Loganair also serve this route , with suggestions Aurigny are also due to launch the route.

DFDS mini review. This month, I took the oppertunity to travel on DFDS ferries route from Newhaven to Dieppe. The first thing to note, this ship is actually owned by Transmanche ferries, to which the vessel is painted in a rather bright yellow and white livery. The price paid was £229 for a return crossing, involving 4 people and a car. Cabins can usually be purchased for around £45 each way, however, due to the ongoing covid situation, these were not available for our crossings. Crossings are approximately 4 hours long on this route, and they seem to use 2 vessels on this service.   So, what were they like: Boarding: Quick and painless. You pull up to a booth, they check your passport (and in current times asked us to fill out a French health form), and then assign you a queue to wait in for boarding. Aer Lingus adds Belfast-Manchester. Starting Sept 14th, Aer Lingus will add a 4 Daily Belfast-Manchester Service, taking over the for,we FlyBe route. EI3610 BHD 0635 MAN 0740 Daily EI3612 BHD 1010 MAN 1105 Mon-Fri from 19th Oct EI3614 BHD 1500 MAN 1605 Daily EI3618 BHD1835 MAN 1940 Daily EI3611 MAN 0825 BHD 0935 Daily EI3613 MAN 1145 BHD 1245 Mon-Fri from 19th Oct EI3615 MAN 1640 BHD 1750 Daily EI3619 MAN 2010 BHD 2120 Daily ATR72 used.  Adding to the MAN-BFS route, this means Manchester-Belfast is served up to 11 times a day. TUI increases Orlando Sanford and Punta Cana. Starting May 2021, TUI will increase its Manchester to Orlando Sanford and Punta Cana routes, compared to planned Summer 2020 operation. Pegasus increase Dalaman Starting 1st August until 24th Sept, Pegasus will fly Manchester to Dalaman 3 weekly instead of the planned 1 weekly.
