Turkish add 2 routes

Turkish Airlines adds 2 routes. Starting June 19th 2021, Turkish Airlines will add 2 routes to Manchester, with the addition of Dalaman and Antalya: TK4011 DLM 0820 MAN 1100 daily  TK4012 MAN 1200 DLM 1825 daily TK4009 AYT 1050 MAN 1325 daily TK4010 MAN 1430 AYT 1855 daily  B737-800 used on both flights.  This is in addition to the recently announced sun express route to Antalya, which means overall, Turkish Airlines group will have 32 weekly flights to Manchester, up from the 14 of 2019 and planned 2020 schedule.

Aer Lingus adds 3 US routes

Aer Lingus adds 3 USA routes. Starting 1st July, Aer Lingus UK will base 4 aircraft at Manchester to operate 3 new Trans-Atlantic routes. The 2nd A330 operates as a back up due to the complexities of the UK AOC versus just the Irish AOC. Proposed schedule detailed below, but may be subject to change: Boston: EI45 MAN 1100 BOS 1330 daily EI44 BOS 1820 MAN 0650 daily  A321N used, tentatively starts 2nd July. New York JFK: EI41 MAN 1405 JFK 1700 daily EI40 JFK 1950 MAN 0735 daily A321N used, tentatively starts 1st July. Orlando: EI35 MAN 1100 MCO 1500 daily EI34 MCO 1930 MAN 0835 daily A330-300 used, tentatively starts 1st July. All 3 routes should hopefully go on sale this month. Flight numbers are likely to change as they will operate on UK AOC, which usually dictates a new flight code (such as Ryanair UK using RK instead of FR and Easyjet Europe using EJU instead of U2).

Christmas message

Christmas message Given twitter has a limited number of characters, I thought I’d write a Christmas message here in a blog post instead. Well, what a year 2020 has been, and I’m sure it’s a year many would like to forget. To say it has been challenging would be an understatement. If this year, you have had to leave your job, both voluntarily or compulsory, I hope 2021 brings you the chance to get back in Employment if not already done so. If this year, you have lost a close friend or relative, both covid and non covid related, I hope 2021 brings you the chance to rebuild, remember and begin the healing process for you. If this year, it’s meant little travel opportunity, not seeing friends or family, or just feeling isolated, let 2021 be the year of exploration, discovery and reconnecting. Thank you so much for following this account. I know it’s not been a normal year, I know my tweets go a little off piste occasionally, and I know the news has probably been a little more negative than...

United Airlines Manchester

United Airlines at Manchester. The curious case of a disappearing airline. It’s far to say, Covid has wreaked havoc on the aviation industry. Prolonged border closures, public perceptions of the virus and job losses across the globe has put a huge strain on an industry which was booming in 2019. Manchester has been no exception to losing flights. BA cityflyer has pulled their weekend operation, Westjet has postponed its Halifax launch for the foreseeable and Oman Air have suspended their Muscat route indefinitely too. There was one airline however, where their pull out puzzled me a little more than the others, and that was United Airlines. United have been serving Manchester for bee 20, although the majority of those years were flying under the Continental banner, in the days before the United/Continental merger. In that time, the flight used the DC-10, the B757, B777-200 (including the brilliant Peter Max livery) as well as 3 variants of the B767 (-200, -300 And -400). 2019 was when t...
